Your weld bands can be made to any custom specification your job requires and can be sent attached to your pipe or sent separately . Weld bands are furnished loose or they are provided by fillet welding the band ½ on and ½ off one end of the pipe forming a female end in order to ease field fit up and welding to the male end of an adjacent pipe. Weld bands are also sometimes referred to as alignment bands or wedding bands.

When you have a ramming, auger boring or pipe jacking job and strength is what you need, Pittsburgh Pipe also manufactures overcut bands to reinforce the ends of your pipes. An overcut band for horizontal casing is typically ID formed slightly larger than the pipe OD. It is furnished loose or is provided by fillet welding the band flush to the pipe end or about ½” off one end of the pipe. An overcut band is attached to the lead piece of the bore casing so that as the bore string advances through the ground its larger diameter overcuts the borehole thereby reducing skin friction on the following casings.
Overcut bands are sometimes furnished with a notch or keyway which may help to prevent casing twist and to keep the bore on line.
Our overcut bands have the following features:
- Typically 6” -12” long
- Band thicknesses from .375” to .500”
- O.D. installed flush or near flush with the end of the pipe
- Our overcut bands can be custom manufactured to your exact project specifications
